The name of the next mayor of Manfredonia will be known in two weeks, during the ballot on 23 and 24 June. The two most supported candidates in the first round celebrated over the weekend compete against each other: Domenico La Marca, leading a coalition made up of the Democratic Party and 5 civic lists, achieved 46.64% of the preferences, while his opponent Ugo Galli, supported by Forza Italia, Fratelli d’Italia and 5 civics, stood at 25.76%. The Democratic Party, with almost 5 thousand votes, once again becomes the leading political force in the city. The results obtained by the centre-left civics are also more than satisfactory. Alliances and possible connections with the coalitions that supported the two mayoral candidates excluded from the second electoral round could weigh on the outcome of the ballot: Antonio Tasso, with a coalition made up of M5S and four civic ones, reached 17.72% while Vincenzo Di Staso, supported by the UDC and two civic bodies, stopped at 9.88%, despite the excellent result of the “Strada Fare” list. The centre-left leads the centre-right by more than 20 points in the first round but the run-off, as we know, resets the vote counter and puts the challengers back on the starting line.
