Today, six years later, the South Tyrolean champion returned to his Sesto Pusteria for the first time as leader of the world ranking, celebrating this extraordinary climb together with his family, friends, fans and all the people who saw him grow . The “
Sinner Day” took place in an atmosphere of great celebration in his hometown, under the careful direction of the municipal administration of
Sesto Pusteria, led by the mayor
Thomas Summerer and the local tourist association. They didn’t want to miss the president from what will remain a historic moment in South Tyrolean sport
Arno Kompatscher and the provincial sports councilor,
Peter Brunner. Jannik Sinner arrived in carriageto the applause of two cheering crowds.
During a short ceremony, the South Tyrolean champion signed the municipality’s honor book, flanked by mayor Summerer and president Arno Kompatscher. At the end, the number one in world tennis reached the tennis pavilion, welcomed by others 400 little tennis players coming from various clubs in Alta Pusteria. “I am very happy to be back here, the place where I was born, I lived my youth with all my friends and family”, said Sinner during the meeting with the young “champions” of the future. “I’m happy to see so many kids and to share this exciting day with them,” underlined the tennis player of Sesto (photo credit Asp Fabio Brucculeri). “Jannik Sinner represents a role model for many South Tyroleans and many young people, thanks to his always positive spirit and his great dedication to work”, the president underlined Arno Kompatscher. “I am sure that we will meet again together to celebrate many other successes of this fantastic athlete, who has already entered the Olympus of the greats of sport.”
