Two more break-ins in the center of Bologna. This time two businesses in the Quadrilatero were hit: a perfumery, ‘Jo Malone’, under the portico of the Pavaglione, and a boutique in via de’ Toschi, ‘Sun68′. In recent months there have been several incidents under the two Towers, so much so that two merchants’ committees have been created in the San Vitale area.

Breakthroughs: 17 thefts in two months, 5 arrested | THE MAP

The thieves, as today’s edition of the newspaper Repubblica writes, struck at dawn, smashing the windows with a large rock and stealing the clothes and objects inside the shops. For both shops, it is probably the same gang of criminals. In the boutique, the second to be hit, only some items were chosen, leaving the rest inside the shop. The total damages amount to a few thousand euros. “We were notified of what had happened by the police very early in the morning,” Federico, a ‘Sun68’ clerk, told the newspaper. “These are not isolated cases, in this period there is a lot of concern in these parts too”.

Matteo Di Benedetto, leader of the League in the city council, spoke about what happened: “The splits continue in Bologna, two more, this time in the quadrilateral. We have put forward dozens of proposals on the topic, all rejected by the majority and by the council. In the meantime, the merchants continue to be robbed and damaged. The silence of Lepore and the council, at a certain point, becomes political responsibility, especially when for months we have been asking for an open and public confrontation on the street, with the shops, and for months the council has not given the willingness to be present”.
