5.01pm – 150 cars missing
While just over 150 cars are missing for checks, some of the over one hundred modern Ferraris pass through Piazza Vittoria that will accompany the historic convoy along the route: the Ferrari tribute, a sort of race within the race within the 1000 Miglia 2024.
4.38pm – Jacky Ickx

Jacky Ickx, six-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and a loyal guest of the Mille Miglia, arrived at the Chopard stand and was immediately surrounded for selfies and autographs. Ickx is also competing this year, with the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL as navigator for Karl-Friedrich Scheufele.
3.51pm – Beatrice Saottini

The two favorites for the Ladies’ Cup, Silvia Marini and Irene dei Tos, arrived on the red carpet in Piazza Vittoria. winners of the last edition of the trophy that they will race on a 1947 Cisitalia 202 S MM Spider. «The objective is to do our best, the race is long and the route is new, there can be many unexpected events – said Marini -. But we will try to win the Ladies’ Cup.” In front of their car, the mini version driven by Silvia Marini’s two sons, who immediately became the darlings of the square.
3.32pm – Giovanni Corazza
Speaking to Radio Bresciasette, a veteran of the Mille Miglia speed race, Giovanni Corazza, who in 1955 won in the Class category, for production cars up to 150 cc: «It was an incredible emotion – he said – we passed through the villages, even night, and the crowd parted as you passed.”

1.03 pm – Juan Tonconogy
Car number 70 attracts attention. It is that of Juan Tonconogy, the Argentinian already winner of the most beautiful race in the world, who returns to the Mille Miglia after a few years of absence. We ask him if he is ready to battle against his historic opponent, Andrea Bravo, winner of six Mille Miglia. “You’re never ready, but we try,” he replies.

Mauro Ferrari, owner of Germani, is in his seventh Mille Miglia, with a Bugatti that is almost a hundred years old. Exactly from 1925. Inevitable i lucky puppets with the Germani logo. The lady of basketball, Graziella Bragaglio, confides that she limits herself to being a supporter: «The competition is too tiring for me».

Fourth year for the Mille Miglia Pink Car Charity returns again in 2024 alongside the most beautiful race in the world together with the Ieo-Monzino Foundation: every mile traveled will be dedicated to supporting the research carried out within Ieo on female tumors. Warly Tomei: «With us this year too Giulia Salemi and Aurora Ramazzotti, together with other influencers to carry forward the message of how important prevention is. Even I, who am a survivor, am proof that prevention makes the difference.”

11.46 am – Alberto Riboldi
Alberto and Federico Riboldi, father and son, they have several historic car races in their book. A well-established crew in which the passion has passed from one generation to the next. Father Alberto arrives in Piazza Vittoria. Federico has set aside the morning for a work commitment while waiting to dive into the race: «For me it is the eighteenth Mille Miglia, for Federico it is the fourth, the third as a driver. He has the ability to keep his nerve. Our car is a 1926 Om, a very difficult car to drive. We always set out to win the Mille Miglia in the sense of bringing the car home. Then the rest is a mix of skill and luck” says Riboldi, who is a doctor by profession.”

The mayor Laura Castelletti arrives on the red carpet at the opening of the Village. He will do a section of the Mille Miglia, from Viareggio to Rome. «The city is even more involved because it was a choice. This ongoing path of growth and dialogue with the organization is bearing fruit. The race goes around the world but then brings this enrichment back to Brescia too”, he underlines.

What is punching
There punching takes place in three areas: in the sporting one, then in the spectacular one offered by the showcase of the village of Piazza della Vittoria, then in the last one which has its roots in the history of the race, when people set off to cover the route in the shortest time possible .

The commissioners of the 1000 Miglia historical register, Aci, Fiva and Asi check that the car is actually the one described in the documentsthat the engine and chassis serial numbers correspond to those declared by the manufacturer at the time and look for confirmation in the certifications owned by the machine. The commissioners, after examining the vehicle, stamp the race documents of the car, which can thus prepare to climb onto the platform in Viale Rebuffone on Tuesday from 12.30 for the start.
The catwalk
But punching is also a unique moment for enthusiasts. In fact, since the morning the “old ladies” line up to reach the parc fermé where the commissioners are waiting for them. A long walkway in the streets of the historic center historically lined up on Corso Zanardelli and Via X Giornate. In the history of the Mille Miglia then the stampings they were one of the most feared moments by the drivers: the stewards had to scrupulously check that the cars respected the limits set by the regulations applied.
