Massimo Stano has only one goal in his head, the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Tokyo Olympic champion is continuing his series of training sessions to arrive in the best conditions in just over a month in the French capital, where he will be at the start of the 20km walk (August 1st) and then most likely of the 35km team race (August 7) together with Antonella Palmisano.
The Apulian is certainly one of the leading men of the Italian athletics team. Definitely the injury (sprain to the left foot with also a fracture of the base of the fifth metatarsal) it definitely influenced the preparation of the Italian walker, who was forced to skip the European Championships in Rome.
An injury that Stano suffered during the World Race Walking Championships in Antalya and which forced him to completely review his plans. In recent weeks, however, the Olympic champion hcarried out numerous training sessions and tests at work the ‘Giulio Onesti’ Olympic Training Center of CONI in Rome and then also at the Stadio dei Marmi.
Stano has now moved to Rivisondoli to carry out further training, followed and monitored by the technicians of the CONI Institute of Sports Medicine and Science. A series of decidedly important tests to understand the athlete’s physical condition and which will then be useful to the federal technical staff to further continue their preparation in view of the Olympics.
In Paris, Stano hopes to arrive in the best possible shape and obviously at the start he will certainly be among the main favorites for a medal. The team competition is also very important, where Italy can really count on one of the best couples in the world. Having Stano in excellent condition together with Antonella Palmisano it can really make you dream in terms of the Olympics.
