“We are waiting for the evidentiary hearing to be scheduled and for laboratory tests to be carried out to bring some clarity to this still unclear case.” This was said by Carabinieri General Luciano Garofano, biologist and criminologist, former commander of the Ris, scientific department of the Parma Carabinieri, and now consultant to Manuela Bianchi, the daughter-in-law of Pierina Paganelli, found murdered in via del Ciclamino on the morning of 4 October 2023. «At the moment this case has not shown anything striking other than the registration of the Senegalese neighbor, Louis Dassilva, in the register of suspects, which means nothing, but is a necessary guarantee to carry out the laboratory tests “, he confirms. And, he comments, “I don’t understand why they didn’t do them sooner.” Maybe because the investigators already knew they would find little or nothing? «It’s impossible to say – replies Garofano – they were probably waiting for further testimonial evidence. Now, however, it is important to carry out these tests with a probative incident, a guarantee for everyone and it will be important to see what results there will be on some finds.” One of them is the victim’s bag on which there would be traces of blood and not only on the handle but also inside. “For example, on the bag – concludes the general – a double sampling will be carried out”.

The evidentiary incident

The double test will help to understand if the blood found on the handle of the bag is that of the victim or the killer and if there are different biological traces but with known DNA. Last week, Louis Dassilva, summoned to the police station and declared under investigation, was again subjected to a DNA sample for the purpose of comparison. it is clear that for the Rimini Prosecutor’s Office, among the four suspects, namely Manuela Bianchi and her brother Loris, the neighbors Valeria Bartolucci and her husband Louis Dassilva, the latter is in the most delicate position. Louis Dassilva and his wife have Riario Fabbri as their lawyer and Roberta Bruzzone as their consultant. Manuela Bianchi, on the other hand, is defended by the Barzan firm of Riccione and she will have General Garofano as a consultant. The choice of the evidentiary incident, with a third judge called to appoint an impartial consultant for carrying out the tests (which were partly in the hands of the scientific police of Rome) is synonymous with guarantee. But it also means that the result – when it is available – will be more difficult for the defense to refute. Since it was Dassilva’s defense who asked, perhaps the suspect himself is sure that his DNA isn’t there at the scene. Finally, the motive and alibi remain to be clarified. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, it now appears clear that the first is to be found in Dassilva’s extramarital relationship with Pierina’s daughter-in-law. The hypothesis is that, to favor his lover, the man would have removed the obstacle to the relationship, i.e. her mother-in-law. The alibi is instead his wife Valeria who continues to support Dassilva. One wonders whether she will continue to do so given the rumors about Louis’ continuing extramarital affair. To this day both, wife and lover, continue to defend the man. Meanwhile, yesterday the lawyer Nunzia Barzan met the prosecutor Daniele Paci. An apparently cognitive meeting and nothing more.
