The councilor: “It was a useful and appreciated project. Now the inconveniences of families who have independently sought alternative solutions have increased”
Fiumicino, 10 June 2024 – “I have carefully read the statements reported in the press by three councilors of the Baccini council and above all by today’s delegate for school policies Roberto Tasciotti. I have a long-standing relationship with Tasciotti, having even been my physical education teacher, as well as the candidate for mayor of my coalition in the electoral challenge of the local elections in 2003, so any further evaluation of his person would be somewhat superfluous, the councilor declares opposition municipality Paolo Calicchio, who adds “All the people who talked today about the summer nursery until a few days ago didn’t know what it was at all, thinking that the term could only be traced back to some summer activity or game to play on the beach. TThis project was instead supported, founded and promoted by our previous administration following talks and discussions initiated in due time with unions, employees and above all parents.
Our educational proposal was certainly not the first in Italy and there were, and there are municipalities, much more virtuous with respect to this opportunity dedicated to families, but it was certainly a fully operational project and above all useful and appreciated for its organization. Over time we would have had the opportunity to implement the proposal a bureaucratic process that could have been tested and certainly improved in some aspects. To date, the facts denote a start of the project with a total initial lack of funds allocated for activation and an extremely late publication of the notice, which did nothing but increase the inconvenience of families, who in the meantime have independently sought alternative solutions for their young children. – reiterated councilor Calicchio –. As regards the use of private structures, no one is shocked by the fact that the administrations must know how to use the public and private sectors as long as the interest for the citizens is always evident, especially if they are families in difficulty, also given the delicate moment global.
“I as a former councilor, and the administration of which I was part, – concludes Calicchio – have used private individuals because the law did not allow us to hire directly, turning to external cooperatives, as always done by other virtuous municipalities. Then we were replaced by a center-right team that during the election campaign promised direct hiring, demonstrating that when words are put into action, lies are exposed.”
