Arezzo, 10 June 2024 – “I begin by thanking all those who in these less than 35 days of election campaign have supported me in my plan to make an important contribution to Antonio Tajani’s challenge. In the city of Arezzo the centrists slightly exceed 8%, two points more than the Tuscan figure and one point more than the figure for central Italy where the votes of Rome and Lazio are also measured. I believe that this result is also partly due to the addition of my experience as a civic mayor who experienced this electoral campaign as an independent candidate functional to adding votes and bringing them, rather than bringing out preferences within the party votes. The sixth place among the candidates from central Italy, in Tuscany, and the first in my city among the candidates on my list are a contribution that I make to the idea of an ever stronger center. A strong center that has history only if allied with an extraordinary leader of the center right like Giorgia Meloni and which demonstrates that outside the center right there is no space for any liberal, civic and moderate proposal. The Arezzo result is immediately available to Tajani and the experiment of a federation of centrists to find all the formulas to grow again as the second party of the center-right coalition and as a popular soul together with Giorgia Meloni’s conservatives”.
