Monza, 10 June 2024 – We are waiting for it counting of the administrative elections in the province of Monza and Brianza. On 8 and 9 June citizens were called to the polls for the European – open to all those entitled to vote – and for municipal. For the province of Monza and Brianza, 31 municipalities voted not only for the renewal of the European Parliament, but also to elect mayor and city council. Six municipalities with more than 15 thousand inhabitants: Agrate Brianza, Bovisio Masciago, Concorezzo, Giussano, Muggiò and Besana Brianza.

In province of Monza and Brianza at 11pm on Saturday, the first data available, the turnout stood at 18.98% of those entitled to participate in the province. On Sunday at 12pm, however, turnout was 32.10% while at 7pm it stood at 53.13%. At 11pm the final figure is 60.28%.

ALL RESULTS

In three Brianza municipalities only one candidate presented himself. In this case the condition for election was exceeding the quorum of 40% of voters. In Brianza for Correzzana it was the first time with just one list: Marco Beretta has been confirmed, as well as Cristian Pulicisecond term a Roncello. Ballot possible for the first time ad Agrate, which has broken through the threshold of 15 thousand inhabitants and has three candidates in the running. TO Besana in Brianza there are three mayoral candidates: among the center-right which supports the current mayor Emanuele Pozzoli (Forza Italia, Lega and FdI) and the center-left represented by Paolo Gasparetti62 years old, in his first experience supported by Besana per Tutti, Pd and the civic Besana4future, a third wheel entered, Alberto Viganò of the Civitas civic list, known for his commitment to the Besanino commuters committee.

TO Bovisio Masciago There are three candidates running for the position of mayor: the outgoing mayor Giovanni Sartori, Paolo Bosisio and Luca Ricci. Giovanni Sartori attempts an encore, supported by the centre-right coalition formed by Forza Italia, Lega and Fratelli d’Italia. The name was chosen unanimously by the entire centre-right coalition. Paolo Bosisio is the centre-left candidate for mayor, supported by the Democratic Party and the Altra Bovisio Masciago civic list. The dem candidate held the role of deputy mayor of Bovisio Masciago from 2014 to 2019 and currently sits on the benches of the municipal council as a councilor. Luca Ricci is the candidate for mayor of Bovisio Masciago for the Italian Socialist Party (the only one in the entire electoral round in Brianza).

There will be no second round, two will compete for the Town Hall on 8 and 9 June: Mauro Capitanio, the outgoing mayor who is attempting an encore, 49 years old, engineer, commercial director of Arexpo, early Northern League supporter supported by four lists (Carroccio, Forza Italia and Fratelli d’Italia plus the civic ‘Competenza e Passion’), and Marco Parolini, 57 years old, manager who manages the real estate assets of a pension fund at the helm of a very broad ‘Alliance for the City’ camp, which wants to change pace in Concorezzo.

It’s a two-way fight to win the keys to the town hall and, politically speaking, there will be no doubt for the voters: centre-right against centre-left. He asks his fellow citizens for trust again outgoing mayor Marco Citterio. It is supported by the centre-right parties (Lega, Forza Italia, Fratelli d’Italia) and by the Progetto Giussano civic list. Citterio, 43 years old, works in the presidential office of governor Attilio Fontana. However, to give continuity to his administrative action Citterio will have to deal with Pierluigi Elli, 54 years old, mechanical designer. He is supported by the Democratic Party and by Servire Giussano.

Anna Franzoni, Michele Messina, Franco Vantellino and Emanuele Castelli. These are the four official candidates who will compete for the Villa Casati seat in June. Anna Franzoni is the centre-left candidate, who grew up at the political school of Maria Fiorito and leads a coalition made up of the Democratic Party and the civic lists Civic Democrats, Insieme per Muggiò and Participatory Muggiò. ìMichele Messina will lead the center-right coalition (Forza Italia with the convergence of Fratelli d’Italia and the League), which will try to regain leadership of the city after ten years. As an outsider here is Franco Vantellino, mayoral candidate of the Civica Zanantoni list, who in Muggiò is the pharmacist par excellence. Finally “alternatives to both the right and the left” here is the very young Emanuele Castelli, for the Lombardia Civica list.
