The debate, in which the public will also be involved, will focus on important themes, with some significant testimonies from those who directly experienced the Arab-Israeli clash, such as Suad Amiry herself who has always, in her works, told the drama of a land tormented by internal conflicts. Added to her is the experience of the Women for Palestine association, attentive and close to the situation of women in Palestinian places, where women’s rights are frequently violated through aggressive and persecutory acts.
Suad Amiry was born in Damascus and graduated from Michigan University, later specializing in Edinburgh. Since 1981 she has lived in Palestine, in Ramallah, in the Occupied Territories of the West Bank, where she teaches at Bir Zeit University and she directs the Riwaq Center for Architectural Conservation. Between 1991 and 1993 you were part of the Palestinian delegations for peace in the Middle East in meetings in the USA. She has written and published various studies, publications and catalogs on historic Palestinian architecture and began her career as a writer by collecting in one volume the diaries she kept during the Israeli siege of Ramallah between 2001 and 2002. She became well known to the international public with the work Sharon and my mother-in-law (2003), translated into 11 languages and with which he won the Viareggio prize in 2004.
