Now the police, following the investigations conducted by the investigative team of the Garibaldi-Venezia police station, have identified and arrested the person responsible: he is a 31-year-old man of Egyptian origin, who had made himself unavailable both at home and at work, but he was tracked down in a bar in San Giuliano Milanese on Wednesday 26 June. He is now in San Vittore.

According to the investigative findings, the man followed the elderly woman as she returned from shopping to a building on Viale Brianza. At that point he attacked her from behind, immobilized her by putting his arm around her neck and tore off her necklace, worth about 10 thousand euros. Finally, he pushed her to the ground and ran away.

The investigative team viewed the video surveillance footage of the condominium and managed to identify the man, who has several previous convictions for robberies in the same area. On June 24, the investigating judge of Milan issued a custodial order in prison, which was carried out on the 26th by the police, who found him in the bar in San Giuliano Milanese while he was playing the slot machines, after having disappeared from his home and work. The clothes he was wearing during the robbery were seized, including a black t-shirt. He is charged with aggravated robbery.
