La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra concert in Piazza del Campo

Excellent symphonic music returns to Piazza del Campo in Siena: approved today, Monday 10 June, by the municipal council, the agreement between the Municipality of Siena, the Accademia Chigiana, the Scala Philharmonic Orchestra and the Arturo Toscanini Foundation for the realization of the “Concert for Italy”, which will see the protagonists in Piazza del Campo , next July 19th, theLa Scala Philharmonic Orchestra directed by the Master Myung-Whun Chung and the concert on July 21st which will see La. take the stage Arturo Toscanini Philharmonic Orchestradirected by Beatrice Venezi. The two concerts are included in the program of the Chigiana International Festival & Summer Academy, entitled “Tracce” for the 2024 edition.

In the resolution approved by the council, the Municipality of Siena undertakes to guarantee the supply of the stage, set up and suitable for the realization of the shows, the carrying out of the rehearsals and concerts, the preparation and organization of the stalls, the technical service staff and the material audio and lighting technician, the use of municipal spaces for television filming of the concert, the technical support necessary for the production of live radio and television coverage by Rai-Radiotelevisione Italiana operators for the concert on 19 July and access and parking permits for the vehicles that will transport the Orchestra’s musical instruments.

“With the aim of supporting and enhancing the musical excellence of the area, such as the Istituto Franci, Siena Jazz and the Accademia Chigiana, we have made ourselves available as an administration in the realization of these important events which have now become an unmissable summer event Siena – explained the mayor of Siena Nicoletta Fabio -. Thanks to the continuous dialogue with the Accademia Chigiana, we have also managed to find the right synergy between the different institutions for 2024 to guarantee the public high-quality performances, featuring internationally renowned symphonic music. The great economic and professional commitment made available by the Municipality for the concerts on 19 and 21 July is further evidence of how much this administration wants to make itself available in the creation of artistic and cultural events and packages to contrast the tourism phenomenon nicknamed ‘bite and run away.

With the aim of reaching different audiences, and evaluating the opportunity of being able to use the stage set up for the two orchestras, we have added the rock concert of Russell Crowe and The Gentlemen Barbersin Piazza del Campo on 22 July, again with free admission”.
