VARESE – People vote more than the national average for Europe but less for mayors: at the midday “pit stop”, in the province of Varese less than one voter in three showed up at the polls. Voter turnout it stops at 26.2% for the European elections and does not exceed 31.23% in the 77 municipalities where people also vote for the mayor. The national data scores 25% on voting for Europe e 34.5% regarding the local elections.

The turnout for the European elections

The highest turnout is still recorded at Duno, the smallest municipality in the province of Varese, the only one to exceed 50% (to be precise 50.32%) of voters at the midday “turning point”. Negative record instead Cadegliano-Viconago, where just over one in ten voters showed up at the polls (11.67%). In big cities it leads the group Busto Arsizio, where one in four voters voted (25.05%) – could this be the effect of the presence of two candidates running for a seat in Brussels? – before Varese (24.19%) e Gallarate (22.55%).

The turnout for the administrative elections

In the province of Varese there is already the first elected mayor: it is that of Tronzano Lago Maggiore, Antonio Palmieri, outgoing mayor and only candidate, thanks to the fact that the 40% quorum to validate the vote was already exceeded at midday, with a 45.70% turnout. Mission almost accomplished too Rancowhere at midday the turnout was 39.56%, while they are also in good shape Casciago (35.41%) e Lozza (35.02%), but generally all 10 Municipalities with a single candidate should easily achieve the quorum objective of 40% (the furthest behind is Caravate, with 29.29%). Among the 77 municipalities, the one where the most votes were cast remains Dunowith
