TIVOLI – Hospital, soot in the ventilation system: patients with pharyngitis

Was reopened just two weeks ago and the first ones are already appearing critical issues: ventilation system malfunctioning and staff lockers tampered with.

It happens at“San Giovanni Evangelista” hospital in Tivoli.

Reporting them in a note addressed to Extraordinary Commissioner of the ASL Roma 5 Silvia Cavalli they are the trade union leaders of the CISL Dimitri Cecchinelli And Riccardo Mariani who have requested verification of suitability of ventilation systems of the departments of NICU/Cardiology, Orthopedics And Analysis Laboratory.

“There is a worrying picture in the departments -write Dimitri Cecchinelli and Riccardo Mariani – In the external portion of the ventilation systems there are noticeable traces of dirt/soot, which can be partially removed with the mechanical action of the operators involved, who are not assigned to this task”.

“A more in-depth analysis is therefore required – they continue – aimed not only at the removal and sanitization of the visible external section but of the entire ventilation system, to exclude the presence of volatile hydrocarbons and guarantee healthcare workers and patients a suitable and safe environment, who complain of various symptoms, such as pharyngitis and hoarseness associated with headache”.

In the same note addressed to the manager of the Tivoli Health Authority, the CISL trade unionists also ask for increase vigilance and restore decorum among them changing rooms on floor -3 of the “San Giovanni Evangelista” hospital.

“The lockers used by employees for storing their personal belongings were tampered with – report Cecchinelli and Mariani – There is a need for more virtuous surveillance activity that guarantees the safety of company premises”.
