“We want to be with the people and among the people” with these words of the second vice governor of Lions district 108 IA-3 Mauro Imbrenda summarized the change of pace of the historic service club which wants to be more visible and closer to the citizens.
As proof of this, many yellow bibs colored the rectory of the church of San Martino, which hosted the press conference of Lions International District 108 la3 to take stock of the initiative”Two great weeks.”
“I’m happy to see so many children in the room this morning – continues Imbrenda– once upon a time this organization was closed to young people.”
“This year was particularly significant for a change of pace – remarks the outgoing district governor Oscar Bielli – a year ago I suggested a combination between young people and the environment: this is a vital need for us, an essential vision for the future. A seventy-four year old like me cannot have the presumption of building a future that will not belong to him. We must continuously live our presence in our communities.”
The 24 Lions Clubs of district 108 la3 promptly took action to organize, from Monday 27 May to Friday 7 June, 24 services in 20 municipalities of the district.
There were 705 members involved, involving 23,200 young people. 125 trees were planted, 727 cell phones recycled and 29,127 people served.
All services in favor of the environment and the territory have seen young people both as protagonists and as objectives.
