The women’s épée team of the Circolo Scherma Terni achieved a prestigious fifth place at the Italian Absolute and Serie A1 team championships, held in Cagliari. The team, made up of Barbara Capoccia (captain), Elena Ferracuti, Silvia Isidori and Silvia Liberati, reconfirmed its position in the Serie A1 group for the seventh consecutive year, demonstrating consistency and determination.

In the group stage, the Terni team had already distinguished itself by placing fifth. In the draw of 16, the CSTR athletes faced Club Scherma Foligno, beating them with a score of 45-36. However, in the quarter-finals, the Terni swordsmen met the “Fiamme Oro Roma”, a formidable opponent, who closed the assault with a result of 25-45, thus stopping CSTR’s race towards the podium.

The teacher Alessandro Bartoli, who accompanied the team during the competition, expressed his pride in the performance of his athletes: “Their performance was sensational, not an easy feat because we can never count on the same team, because not being a professional team every year we are forced to change. We are the first society, after the military groups. As for yesterday, the individual races took place, all our athletes arrived in the top 64, a very difficult race. A little more was expected, however Sofia Quirini’s performance should be noted, this was her first big leap into senior fencing.”
This fifth place represents an important milestone for CSTR, consolidating its position among the best women’s fencing teams in Italy and confirming the high technical level of its athletes.
