they won the Intercultura competition

Almost 1,800 students, including 26 from Arezzo, won the Intercultura competition and will leave this summer for a life and study experience in one of the 60 countries where the voluntary association develops its programs. These teenagers participated in the selections, told their stories, described themselves, collected all the documents to request a scholarship. And finally, after a few interminable weeks of waiting, they received the long-awaited response to the program assignment. And they are ready to leave to live an experience with high educational potential.

The 26 students from the Arezzo area have recently experienced one of the most beautiful phases prior to their departure: preparation with volunteers from their area, to arrive prepared to make the most of the months they will spend abroad. There were 3 meetings of activities full of moments of reflection on their future experience but also on themselves, they met their traveling companions but also, as we hope, they learned to recognize who they are and who will be that boy or girl who will get on the plane, what will he take with him to his host country. These are 26 boys and girls resident in Arezzo and in various municipalities of the province and are students of the Colonna, Petrarca and Redi institutes in Arezzo, Galilei of Poppi, Fermi of Bibbiena, Giovanni da San Giovanni and Severi of San Giovanni Valdarno, Varchi of Montevarchi and Vasari of Figline and Incise Valdarno.

The children will leave for periods ranging from four weeks in the summer, two or three months up to the semester and the entire school year. They will leave for the United States, United Kingdom, Denmark, Japan, Argentina, Ireland, Uruguay, Panama, English-speaking Canada, Brazil, China, Thailand, Chile, France, Tasmania and the Republic of South Africa.

Two thirds of these kids will leave thanks to a scholarship offered by Intercultura. The 26 students were invited today, Saturday 8 June, to participate in another very exciting moment which sees them involved together with their families: in the main hall of the Redi high school, in via Leone Leoni, Arezzo, they received the parchment certifying their winning of the program . (And the local center t-shirt to bring a bit of Arezzo into the world!). The event was attended by volunteers from our local center and the principals of the schools of the children hosted. To applaud them and, why not, to also give them some advice, the 3 foreign kids who are living the Intercultural exchange experience in our area participated: Giovanna from Brazil, Bogdan from Serbia and Augustin from Chile.
