Albanian fugitive convicted of apartment thefts arrested by the police

In Altopascio, the carabinieri of the NOR-Radiomobile Section of the Lucca company arrested a 24-year-old Albanian citizen, with a criminal record and without a fixed abode, as two different precautionary custody orders in prison issued by the Courts of La Spezia and of Lucca, issued respectively on 8 February 2024 and 25 March 2024.

At 2 am, the Carabinieri soldiers engaged in a territorial control service noticed a car with three people heading at a suspicious speed from Via delle Cerbaie towards the motorway toll booth. At this point the carabinieri decided to proceed with checking the vehicle and the people, which initially gave a negative result. In fact, the three men had a regular passport issued by the Albanian authorities and there was no provision or criminal record against them. But despite this, the attitude of the men and their presence in a place where they apparently had no connection, led the carabinieri to carry out further checks and in particular to better ascertain their identity, subjecting them to photo identification at the provincial police headquarters in Lucca. Precisely from the outcome of this last investigation, the confirmation emerged that there was in fact something wrong. The 24-year-old, under another name, was responsible for two precautionary detention measures issued by the Office of the Investigating Judge of the aforementioned Courts at the request of the respective Public Prosecutor’s Offices, following two different investigations conducted by the Police Headquarters of La Spezia and Lucca, for a series of aggravated home burglaries.

The arrested person, after the legal formalities, was transferred to the Lucca prison at the disposal of the sending judicial authority.
