The general meeting of members Assil, National Association of Lighting Manufacturers federated Anie Confindustria has elected the Cesena native as new president for the two-year period 2024-2026 Carlo ComandiniCEO Vossloh-Schwabe Italia Spa. Assil itself made this known to the press.

Comandini takes the reins of the association he brings together over 90 companies manufacturers of electrical lighting equipment and components, with a global turnover of approximately 2.8 billion euros, representing over 65 percent of the national market, employing over 8,700 people.

Comandini’s managerial career began in 1987 and carried out entirely within the lighting sector, covering various corporate positions and top positions in multinational group companies Panasonic Lighting Europe and Vossloh-Schwabe, whose acquisition he oversaw in 2002. Since 2000 he has been managing director of the Italian headquarters Vossloh-Schwabe Italia Spa, manufacturer of components and solutions Led for the lighting and household appliances sector. During his career he held various institutional positions in Confindustria. Since 2020 he has been president of the Confindustria Romagna service company and vice-president with delegation of the Assil market group.

The lighting industry closed 2023 with a stable aggregate turnover (+0.4 percent compared to 2022). Despite the progressively weakening trends, the Italian industry remains the second production hub in the European Union after Germany. Considering the internal market, the sector was affected by consumption dynamics, penalized by the impact of energy costs on family income and by a decrease in investments. In the first months of 2024, industrial production volumes are recovering and international markets are also expected to play a driving role in growth, slow recovery.

These data make us reflect on the relevance of a strategic sector for the Italian economy and for the entrepreneurial production fabric. “Assil – explained Comandini in his inauguration speech – must have guiding values cohesion, sharing and collaboration to enable the strong, integrated and synergistic development of our sector. The association can and must develop an advanced system of support services by identifying qualified partners to be alongside entrepreneurs and to help them manage their businesses in the best possible way.” For the new president of Cesena it is important “put in place the talents and professionalism of our companies, and of the companies connected to Assil, taking advantage of the very powerful Confindustria network and the vast network of relationships consolidated over time by our association”.

Another priority objective highlighted in the inauguration speech concerns the definition of safety and environmental sustainability regulations national and European: “The objective is to limit the impact on our companies as much as possible, taking into account continuous technological evolution, in favor ofquality industry for quality users. We are and will also be present in the future on various national and international tables. Italy is the second European producer. It is desirable that the Italian instances obtain adequate relevance in Europe. From this perspective it will be important to act through lobby policies with other European associationsstarting from Zvei and Assoluce, to advance common interests, also taking into due consideration the problems of small and medium-sized enterprises”.
