The Città della Quintana Meeting was held on Thursday 6 June in Foligno at the Enzo Blasone stadium, organized by Atletica Winners Foligno. Athletes from all over central Italy took to the track and platform. In addition to the youth sector competitions, there were also competitions for the absolute sector. Daniele Marcelli, Atletica L’Aquila, won the 5000m race with the new personal best of 14’22”70, improving the previous one of 14’34”83 by 12 seconds.
Daniele Marcelli after 600 meters he moved on to lead the race with a final kilometer in progression, decisive for the new time trial which also constitutes the minimum participation for the Challenge championships, which will take place in Brescia on 15 and 16 June, an important springboard for the Italian championships absolutes. Currently in the national seasonal ranking in the category he is placed in 23rd place. After the sprinter Antonella Nardis he is the second athlete from L’Aquila to have achieved the minimum participation in the Challenge championships which for m. 5000 floors was set at 14’26”00. In Foligno the students’ team also achieved excellent results with several personal bests: 400m Nicolò Davide 52″75 pb; George Ether 54”43 pb; m. 800 floors Dario Giusti 2’00”57 pb; Matteo Ventulini 2’10”95 pb; 100 m floors Lorenzo Bonanni 13”35 (Paralympic athlete); m. 2000 hedges Francesco Panella 6’40”39 pb; long jump Simone De Benedictis 6.63 m.
