“What kind of work?”, the CGIL conference on work and female employment in L’Aquila


L’AQUILA – Knowledge and dissemination of the means and methods of innovation in the world of work and of the protection tools available to combat and resolve the gender gap must become a common heritage. Inform and raise awareness the community on the diversity of a world of work still declined to the masculine and on constrictive work models by genderand, even more importantly, promoting a culture for defeat the gap and foster the participation of women in the labor market is the objective of the CGIL of the Province of L’Aquila.

For this reason, in the traditional annual meeting on current issues in the world of work, the CGIL of L’Aquila, together with ANLoD – National Association for the Fight against Discrimination – organized the event entitled “What kind of work? scheduled for next year June 21st next to L’Aquila.

The conference, with the patronage of the Universities of L’Aquila and Teramo, of the Council of the Bar Association, of the Order of Labor Consultants, of the Order of Psychologists, sees the participation of renowned and important speakers international and has obtained the recognition of primary specialized magazines. “We thought of an innovative format”point out Miriam Del Biondo, Alessandra Marchionni and Francesco Marrelli of the CGIL of L’Aquila, in which, a first seminar-type meeting, which will take place at 10.00 am in the Aula Magna of the Department of Human Sciences of the University of L’Aquila, will be followed by a panel discussion political-trade union meeting which will be held in the early afternoon in the evocative setting of Palazzo de Marchis – Simeonibus, in which prominent personalities from the political and trade union world will take part. “We are happy that the Honorable Pezzopane, councilor Ersilia Lancia elto councilor Simona Giannangeli have agreed to participate, despite the commitments of this period. It is a first-rate audience, in which the university’s gender policy delegates will also participate Prof. Francesca Caroccia, for the University of L’Aquila, ela Professor Fiammetta Ricci for the University of Teramo. It is also a privilege to have the presence of National Secretary of the FLC-CGIL Gianna Fracassi”, declare Miriam Del Biondo, Alessandra Marchionni and Francesco Marrelli.

The immediate adhesion to the initiative of the CGIL of L’Aquila demonstrates that this year’s theme is more relevant than ever and requires an urgent solution that involves all those who are actively engaged in the world of work. “And for this reason” the organizers conclude “that the CGIL of L’Aquila decided to invite to the event the entrepreneur Elisabetta Franchi, for whom we have officially reserved a place, considering the recent events that have affected your company. We hope that you will agree to participate and discuss after your company’s conviction for discriminatory behavior, a conviction that you have been forced to develop and adopt an innovative corporate training plan for all staff, aimed at eliminating gender prejudices that have always been linked to the female universe”. Work-life balance constitutes a topic hitherto linked exclusively to the female world. Today, however, the issue is transversal and affects the entire community: raising awareness on this point cannot be postponed any further.

It is for this reason that, on the occasion of the initiative, the CGIL of the Province of L’Aquila will present a proposal aimed at promoting concrete solutions within companies in terms of combating discrimination and reconciling life and work.
