In a fervent spirit of celebration for Bari’s salvation in Serie B and with the aim of revitalizing and further coloring the neighbourhood, the Madonnella Republic association, in collaboration with the Circolo del Bari, inaugurated a new permanent installation along via Somalia . “Starting from today – they explain from the association -, the street will be dressed in the white and red colours, typical of our beloved football team, through the installation of raffia caps. These are not only a symbol of cheering, but also a reminder of travel and discovery, ideal for passers-by who wish to stop for a selfie, thus bringing a touch of tourist liveliness to the heart of our neighbourhood.”
It is Flavia De Filippis, of Madonnella Republic, who shares the profound meaning of this initiative: “We chose the raffia hats because they evoke the concept of travel and discovery – she reveals -, just like a tourist who explores new realities and immerses himself in culture local. The choice of the colors white and red is a tribute to belonging and the deep love for our city of Bari”. The installation is part of a series of projects aimed at infusing the neighborhood with even more life: the last one saw the neighborhood’s manhole covers transformed into true works of art. Among future initiatives, however, “the creation of a mural dedicated to Saint Nicholas is also envisaged, further testimony to the indissoluble bond with local roots and traditions”.
