MESSINA – After the great emotions of 24H Wednesday we return to the track at the Messina Kartodromo for the fifth seasonal event on the calendar valid for 2024 SWS Sprint Championshiporganized by the Messina Karting Club of manager Duilio Petrullo, scheduled for Saturday 8 June.

There are 36 registered drivers, divided between the various categories (F1, F2, F3), ready to battle in two separate batteries and put on a show until the checkered flag. The meeting of the participants is set at 3pm, with the briefing and the kart draw at the beginning. The engines will then fire up as usual format of the individual specialty which includes Race 1 and Race 2 Sprint of 36 laps each (plus a mandatory stop for a kart change), preceded by 8′ qualifying sessions to determine the starting grid.

The pit, by regulation, will remain open for 10′ starting from the fifth lap. Any penalties will be imposed by the race direction, based on the judges’ reports, using the Var to examine all phases via video footage.

The event will end with the awards ceremony on the podium for the top three finishers in the F1, F2 and F3 categories. Awards for “best lap” overall of the event and pole position. According to the SWS scoring system, the award of points will be calculated at 100%.

In the 2024 Sprint SWS Championship standings Valentino Fusco currently leads the F1 category with 6911 points collected in the four tests already held, followed by Lorenzo Tappa at 6301, then Davide Campione (5862), Luigi Pizzuti (5760), Pietro Grima (5388), Andrea Alberti (5087), Riccardo Irrera (4741), Mario Barbaro (4686), Antonio Minutoli (4640) and Sara La Fauci (4233) in the top ten. In F2 Alessandro Maggio is in the lead with 7271 points, second is Alice Di Bella (6703), then Federico Scimone (6527), Antonio Bartolotta (6274) and Alessandro Fichera (6202). Simone Bongiorno at the top in F3 with 6543 points, behind him Onofrio Balastro (6471), Andrea Brusca (6152), Nicola Anastasi (6066) and Massimiliano D’Angelo (5554).
