Sassari. The “Goldberg Variations” as you have never heard them: the appointment scheduled for Monday 10 June at 12 in the Guarino room of the “Luigi Canepa” Conservatory of Sassari will be a real event, with a seminar and the performance of the famous work by Johann Sebastian Bach transcribed by Max Reger for two pianos.

The meeting, organized by the Conservatory with the cultural association “Arte in musica”, includes a historical-musicological introduction by Giulio Gelsomino, graduated in organ with top marks at the “Canepa” and one of the sixteen organists called from all over the world to perform the complete works of Max Reger between Perugia, Orvieto and Assisi in 2023. The performance of the “Goldberg Variations” for two pianos will instead be entrusted to Johannes Skudlik and Marco Lo Muscio.

Johannes Skudlik is an international conductor. Born in Munich and raised in Barcelona he has conducted important symphony orchestras. Since 2016 he has been principal guest conductor of the Symphony Prague orchestra. He regularly holds master classes at important educational institutions such as the Gnessin Institute in Moscow, the Rimsky Korsakov Conservatory in St. Petersburg, in China, at the Valencia Superior Conservatory as well as in Sardinia and Sicily. He played famous organs in Europe, America and the Far East (including Notre Dame Paris, Hong Kong Concert Hall, Frauenkirche Dresden, Cologne Cathedral, Suntory Hall and Opera City Tokyo, Harvard University, New York Synagogue, Vienna Cathedral, Westminster Cathedral). More than 30 CDs and radio and television productions for ARTE, BR, RAI 3 document his work.

Marco Lo Muscio is an organist, pianist and composer. He often collaborates with international artists such as Kevin Bowyer, Andrea Padova, David Jackson, John and Steve Hackett (Genesis) and his compositions are performed all over the world by great musicians. He has received commissions for new compositions from major institutions such as Harvard University in America. He graduated in piano cum laude under the guidance of Tonino Maiorani and specialized for three years with Sergio Fiorentino, obtaining the diploma of high piano specialization with full marks at the “Bartolomeo Cristofori” academy. He studied organ with James E. Goettsche and gave 850 concerts in some of the most renowned cathedrals and concert halls in Europe, Russia and America. His records have been broadcast on Vatican Radio, BBC 3, TV2000, TV Russia, BR Klassik.
