Once the electoral hostilities have ended in Piazza della Repubblica, we can vote. Foligno today and tomorrow will choose who will be part of the next city council and who will be the next mayor. There are 55 polling stations set up throughout the municipal area, operational on Saturday afternoon and Sunday, all day long. 44,475 citizens will participate in the vote (of which 21,320 men and 23,155 women). For the European consultations, the administrative ones in fact coincide, the voters will be 43,112 (of which 20,598 men and 22,514 women). The gap between voters for the administrative and European consultations depends on the fact that many people from Foligno abroad will be able to vote in their countries of residence for the European elections. There will be 263 eighteen-year-olds (141 men and 122 women) who will exercise their right to vote for the first time. The electoral office of the Municipality of Foligno – in Piazza della Repubblica, 10 – will remain open to issue undelivered electoral cards or duplicates of them in the event of deterioration, loss or theft of the original. The opening hours are today from 8am to 11pm and tomorrow, from 7am to 11pm. In case of damage, loss or theft, the duplicate of the electoral card will be issued by the electoral office following a specific declaration by the interested party on the designated forms.

In fact, there are three voting methods: a cross on the mayoral candidate, a cross on the list and related preference votes (one or two, in the case of two of different sexes), or a cross on a symbol and a cross on a mayoral candidate different. In this last case we speak of disjoint voting. There are four men competing for the mayor’s seat. Stefano Zuccarini is the outgoing mayor, a centre-right extralarge version. Supporting him are the League, his party, Fratelli d’Italia, Forza Italia and two civic lists, ‘Più aloft – Foligno civica’ and the personal list ‘Stefano Zuccarini mayor’. The centre-left ‘progressive coalition’ version ranks Mauro Masciotti, former director of the diocesan Caritas, at the head of a coalition with the Pd, M5S, Foligno in Comune, Foligno 2030, Patto x Foligno and Foligno Domani. Third in the running is Enrico Presilla, at the top of a coalition with Popular Alternative, Per Foligno and Civil Commitment. Moreno Finamonti is also nominated with ‘La Voce di Foligno’. The votes for the administrative elections will begin on Monday at 2 pm.
