Heat wave coming with very muggy days also in Modena. The meteorologist reports it Luca Lombrosowith a post on their Facebook page:
“It is not the first, but the third heat wave of the year, second for the meteorological summer after that of early June. April also saw an early heat wave with summer characteristics. So far, the hottest day in Modena Geophysical observatory was on 8 June with Tmax 30.2°C, while in Modena Campus on 7 June with 31.2°C, and in Reggio Emilia again on the 7th with 31.8°C. Now, the expansion of the African anticyclone will bring the maximum temperatures between 32-34°C. However, on Thursday and Friday the sun will be obscured by a massive transport of desert dust from the Sahara. Despite the less bright sun, conditions will be of moderate to strong physiological discomfort and Reggio Emilia, with temperatures, precipitation and the Thom index (Discomfort Index). The DI index expresses the effect of temperature and humidity on the sensation of perceived heat. In the central hours of the day, the discomfort will be between moderate and strong , but fortunately below the threshold of extreme discomfort. We also notice some precipitation: on Thursday and Friday, despite the heat, there could be light rain accompanied by the deposit of desert dust. On Sunday, however, there will be a sharp drop in temperatures with strong and widespread thunderstorms due to the influx of cold air.”
