L’Salerno-Amalfi Coast Airport excluded from global trans-European transport network. He intervenes on this point Mario Furore, MEP of the 5 Star Movement: «As an MEP, I cannot remain silent in the face of the scandalous exclusion of Salerno-Amalfi Coast Airport from the global trans-European transport network (TEN-T). This decision appears not only as a clear disadvantage for our territory, but also as an act of political shortsightedness which seriously puts at risk the future development of a crucial infrastructure for the Campania Region. Despite announcements in the press by former European Parliamentarians, the exclusion of Salerno-Amalfi Coast Airport from the TEN-T network is an incomprehensible choice and detrimental to the interests of our region. In this context, our airport is unexpectedly equated with those of Crotone, Forlì, Cuneo and Brescia, which will not receive any funding from the European Union and will have to operate exclusively with funds from the Italian State. This decision constitutes a serious threat to the development of an infrastructure that is essential for the progress of Campania.
In the next few hours I will submit a question to the European Parliament to understand the reasons behind this decision and to ask that the strategic importance of the Salerno-Amalfi Coast Airport for Campania and the entire South be recognized. Only through a shared vision and concrete commitment will we be able to guarantee a future of growth and development for our territory and internal areas. The exclusion of Salerno-Costa d’Amalfi Airport from the TEN-T network is a shameful choice that we cannot accept. I am committed to doing everything in my power to overturn this decision and to ensure that our area receives the attention and support it deserves.”
