The homophobic attack took place in the center of Foggia, the beaten man ended up in hospital. The police are working to identify the attackers.
FOGGIA – A man of around 40 years old was the victim of a homophobic attack in Foggia on the night between Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th June 2024. The man, who was in the company of a friend and a foreign girl, was insulted and beaten by a group of young people, some of them minors, just because he was homosexual.
The episode occurred in the evening in the city centre, according to initial reconstructions, the man and his friends were returning home when they were approached by the group of young people who insulted them with homophobic insults. The man tried to calm the situation, but the group began to brutally beat him. The friend who had intervened in his defense was attacked, with a punch in the throat. He had to be transported to hospital. While a foreign girl who was with them was insulted with racial slurs. The victims of the attack then managed to escape and call the police. Several State Police and Carabinieri patrols intervened on site and began investigations to identify and report those responsible for the attack. The police are reviewing the images of the surveillance cameras in the area to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the facts.
