FERMO – A June of wine in the Marche: the region is ready to welcome the National Convention of the Women of Italian Wine. A beautiful showcase for a region that boasts over 200 varieties of vines, one above all Verdicchio, appreciated throughout the world.

The annual meeting will be held from 20 to 24 June, while on Saturday 22, in the Prefecture of Pesaro there will be an interesting conference entitled “The new frontiers of wine, between culture, tourism and well-being”.

A traveling program made up of meetings, masterclasses, visits and hospitality which will involve all the provinces and will provide the opportunity for promotion and training. “You will discover the Marche endlessly” is the name of the program that will pass through Ascoli Piceno, Recanati, Jesi, Senigallia, Pesaro (Italian Capital of Culture 2024), Genga, Fabriano, Loreto and Ancona with the Conero Riviera.

Visits will be organized to the cellars that are part of the project and visits to the most well-known cultural sites in the region such as Casa Leopardi, the Basilica of Loreto, the Frasassi Caves, the Rotonda a Mare and the Conero Riviera. The two masterclasses will be dedicated to exploring “The Classic Method in the Marche” and “The longest-lived white wines of the Marche”.

Every convivial moment will be an opportunity to taste the native wines of the region through the productions of the Women of Wine of the Marche and to appreciate the gastronomic tradition.

There are 32 Women of Wine from the Marche region, unfortunately none from Fermo despite there being no shortage of female entrepreneursand thanks to teamwork and the support of partners and the Region, they managed to bring the 2024 convention to the Marche: “A proper thank you therefore goes to the great work of the agriculture councilor Andrea Maria Antonini and to all the municipalities involved , to the Marche Institute for Wine Protection, to the Consorzio Vini Piceni and to all the private sponsors who believe in us” says Daniela Sorana, Marche delegate of the Women of Wine.

“I am thrilled – continues Sorana – by the strong participation of the Italian Women of Wine, over 90 from outside the region, who will be with us in this 5-day full immersion. We really have a lot to offer. ‘Get involved with the Women of Wine of the Marche’ is the motto with which we will welcome our guests”.

“It is an honor to have been chosen – states Andrea Maria Antonini, Councilor for Agriculture of the Marche Region – the Marche is a region that aims for quality rather than large quantities, closely linking the concept of wine to the territory: an example is the valorisation of the law on wine tourism and the sustainability of wine, starting from the massive presence of organic which leads the region to be among the most virtuous in Italy. I am sure that the days of the Convention will be full of celebration where women from all over Italy will have the opportunity to meet our women wine producers from the Marche and also experience the welcome that we Marche people are proud of”.

Also in the Marche, from 21st to 30th June, raise your glasses for the Lacrima Wine Festival, the Morro D’Alba event dedicated to the prized DOC wine. Music, tastings and cultural initiatives will act as a corollary to tell the story of the precious ruby red.

Five concerts scheduled and two photographic exhibitions, including that of the Senigallian photographer Mario Giacomelli, which can be visited at the Santa Teleucania auditorium. On Sunday 23 June the Women of Wine convention will also stop here in Morro D’Alba, while on Saturday 29 the Italian Sommelier Association will award the “Best Sommelier of the Marche 2024”.

The event, co-financed by the Marche Region, aims to promote Lacrima wine as a local brand and to enhance tourism in the villages of the Marche region. Since 2019, the municipality of Morro D’Alba has been part of the most beautiful villages in Italy and since 2022 it has obtained the Yellow flag for traveling tourism.
