Protection of fish fauna, protocol signed with the Municipality of Crotone

Two were signed by the mayor of Crotone, Vincenzo Voce memoranda of understandingrespectively with theAsd Kroton Apnea Onlus and with Gaia Onlus aimed at creating structures with anti-trawling and repopulation functions of fish fauna. The subscription is consequential to the council resolutions proposed by the environmental councilor Angela Maria De Renzo.

In particular the two structures they will affect sites of community importance “Marine Protected Area on the southern and northern borders” and “Gabella seabed”. The president of Gaia Onlus signed the protocols with the mayor Pasquale Nicotera and the president of ASD Kroton Apnea Pietro Donnici. The structures will allow the application of conservation measures necessary for the maintenance of habitats and the populations of the species present.

It’s about innovative structures of contrast to trawling which represents one of the more destructive and non-selective methods which damage both existing fauna and the seabed. At the same time these artificial structures also contribute to increase marine recovery guaranteeing new refuge areas for many marine species.

“Adherence to protocols it falls within the scope of objectives aimed at protecting nature and ecosystems, with a view to sustainable development” declares councilor De Renzo.
