Abruzzo at the polls today and tomorrow for the European elections and in 98 municipalities for the renewal of mayors and administrations. There are three municipalities with over 15 thousand inhabitants: Pescara, Montesilvano and Giulianova

There are 1,152,301 voters in the 305 municipalities of Abruzzo for the European elections today and tomorrow; 590,377 are women and 561,924 are men, 76 members of the European Parliament belonging to Italy will be elected. Of the total of 214 candidates from the Southern Italy constituency, 14 are from Abruzzo. Overall, there are 1,633 sections.

The polling stations are open today, Saturday 8 June, from 3pm to 11pm and tomorrow 9 June from 7am to 11pm. For the administrative elections, the largest municipality is Pescara, followed by Montesilvano and Giulianova.

In the Adriatic capital there are 4 candidates for mayor, 14 lists: the outgoing Carlo Masci, centre-right, Carlo Costantini, centre-left, Domenico Pettinari, Civic Coalition and Gianluca Fusilli, United States of Europe. Given the possible run-off round as for centers with over 15 thousand inhabitants, the ballot for the administrative elections is blue. For municipal elections, split voting is possible.

The second most populous city in Abruzzo is Montesilvano, here the challengers are Ottavio De Martinis, outgoing mayor for the centre-right and Fabrizio D’Addazio, candidate of the centre-left.

Another municipality with over 15,000 inhabitants is Giulianova where the challenge is four-way: Jwan Costantini, outgoing mayor; Alberta Ortolani; Romolo Lanciotti and Daniele Di Massimantonio,

In Abruzzo, the provincial territory that will see the greatest number of municipalities go to vote for the administrative elections is that of Chieti: 50. In the province of L’Aquila there will be voting in 8 municipalities. In the Pescara area, elections will be held in 17 municipalities. 23 municipalities in the province of Teramo.

Naturally, for the European elections all 305 centers in the region will be called to vote. Our broadcaster, as per tradition, will give space to the results in real time.

From 11pm tomorrow the European elections will be counted but there will also be exit polls for the municipal elections. The counting for the local elections will begin from 2.00pm on Monday.
