First official announcement for Crotone ahead of the 2024-2025 sports season. The sharks have decided to entrust the role of sporting director to the former Giugliano, Antonio Amodio. The news had been in the air for several weeks and the official announcement arrived in the last few hours. This is the first piece of the new season, a fundamental piece to give life to the preparation of the new team’s squad, awaiting the announcement of who will be the new coach.
Crotone, Amodio arrives
After some positive seasons spent at Giugliano, Antonio Amodio has reached an agreement with Crotone which will see him play the role of transfer man for the next two years.
“The Crotone Football Club announces that it has entrusted the role of sports director to Antonio Amodio – we read in the club note -, born in Torre del Greco on 5 April 1987, he began his career as a sports manager in Spal, as scouting manager for the Centre-South. He later took on the role of sporting director of Sorrento, before moving to the Polisportiva Santa Maria. In the last two seasons he was the sporting director of Giugliano Calcio, contributing to the Campania club’s historic participation in the playoffs Serie C“.
The coach is waiting
With the arrival of Antonio Amodio in the role of sporting director, Crotone will now be asked to choose who will succeed him on the bench Lamberto Zauli. The coach will end his relationship with the Sharks on June 30, 2024, when his contract will not be renewed. After two seasons, both of which ended with elimination in the first round of the Serie C Playoffs, the Calabrian club wants to turn the page and start again with a project based on quality young players.
The name that has emerged in recent days as the main candidate for the bench is that of Emilio Longocoach who ended his stint at Picerno.
The other possible operations
Among the players who may not be part of the squad there could be the midfielder Luis Rojas.
For him, returning from his loan to Pro Vercelli, a permanent transfer to one of Novara or Lucchese could be on the horizon.
Crotone will change a lot especially in defence: Luca Battistini and Daniele Altobelli will return to Lecco and Monterosi Tuscia respectively, and will also say goodbye to the players whose contract expires on 30 June 2024, i.e. Guillaume Gigliotti, Davide Bove and Federico Papini. The permanent transfer of the winger is also possible Maxime Giron. However, the midfielders will not be redeemed Andrea D’Errico and Niccolò Zanellatowho arrived on loan at Crotone from Bari and Catania this season respectively.
