With the Spazio Portici – Percorsi Creativi project, conceived by the Contrada Torino Onlus Foundation, created in collaboration with the City of Turin and Torino Creativa and with the contribution of the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation until 2023, for the first time in Italy video art occupies public outdoor spaces.

The porticoes of San Salvario, one of the most complex and multicultural neighborhoods of Turin, next to the Porta Nuova railway station, are transformed into an urban gallery and host, from June e September, Anthropocene and Landscapethe new e fifth exhibition of video and sound art: a site-specific public art operation that investigates the dimension of urban space, in relation to the social, cultural and political contradictions of the contemporary. In this episode the short films on display dialogue with the 27th edition of the CinemAmbiente Festival, organized by the National Cinema Museum, from 4 to 9 June 2024 in Turin and online. This year the Festival is dedicated to the memory of Gaetano Capizzi, its founder and historic director, who passed away prematurely last year.

To create this experience, 9 high-brightness projectors and 20 sound speakers were set up along the arches of Via Nizza in Turin, which interact and integrate active images and sounds, giving life to an alternative sound and visual landscape. The daily life of passers-by is transformed into a sensorial and aesthetic experience that allows them to reclaim a place of transit, realizing the artistic regeneration of a portion of the metropolitan fabric.
