The images represent the “eyes” of the Macerata-Loreto walking pilgrimage proposed by Comunione e Liberazione and this is why the press conference presenting the 46th edition, scheduled for Saturday 8 June, starting from the Villa Potenza Exhibition Center and arrival at the Santa Casa, opens with an emotional clip that traces the long history of this gesture which, despite the passage of time, is anything but repetitive and continues to attract participants from every region of Italy and from abroad (125 buses accredited so far), eager to share the journey together. This year’s novelty is evident: the mass will not take place, as per tradition, at the “Helvia Recina” Stadium (renovation work in progress) but rather in the Macerata exhibition area which, in 1993, welcomed Saint John Paul II. The Eucharist will be celebrated by Msgr. Rino Fisichella, pro-prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization. “It is no coincidence that we have Pope Francis’ delegate for the Jubilee on our pilgrimage – highlighted Mgr. Nazzareno Marconi, bishop of Macerata -, just as it is no coincidence that the motto of this year of grace, “Pilgrims of hope”, is absolutely in tune with the path we are preparing to take, in preparation for 2025, guided by the Bull of indication Spes non confundit. Providential synergies are thus created, and this is also a way to communicate to our people that in the pilgrimage itself an experience of welcome and faith is preserved: all this constitutes a richness that the entire Church will be able to discover through the Jubilee. Furthermore, we walk at night, and those who are going through the night of life must be helped and supported with courage in understanding that there is always a way towards the light”. The press conference was introduced by Carlo Camoranesi, director of the organizing committee’s press office.
