THE Frogs Legnano, historic team of American Footballtwo announce Junior Open Day, Saturday 8th and Saturday 15th June at 3pm in via Parma 77, to raise awareness of this sport which is not very widespread in our country but which – even in spite of some clichés – can offer a lot, particularly to the younger ones, and which really allows everyone to be able to do physical activity, be in the open air, do new friendships and feeling part of a group. During the Open Days – open to boys and girls aged 6 to 17 – it will in fact be possible to approach and try both versions of American Football: Tackle, better known, a contact sport which involves wearing a helmet and shoulder pads, and Flag, an increasingly emerging version which will be an Olympic sport from 2028. Flag Football does not involve contact, but the use of stripes (flags) tied at the waist to stop the action, and it is a suitable sport from an early age.
«Football is in general a complete sport suitable for everyone, which promotes motor development and coordination and which, by providing roles with different abilities, can really be practiced by everyone – explains Matteo Guarneri, head of the youth sector of the Frogs Legnano -. Added to this, which is not secondary for us, are the values that characterize this sport and our Society in particular: inclusiveness and respect, sharing and collaboration with everyone, keeping the commitments made and everyone feeling part of a family . Values that we encourage to follow on and off the pitch, and which in our opinion are fundamental in these years of personal growth and development. This creates a truly welcoming, united and healthy environment in which to play sport.”
The Legnano Frogs are part of the Italian Football Federation and this allows boys and girls to compete in the National Championships, experiencing exchanges and comparisons with other teams, sometimes even on extra-regional trips, which are very rich and stimulating. The Frogs, in addition to having the Senior team which is competing in the highest National Championship, and the Flag Senior women’s team in the Italian Flag Championship, are present in practically all the youth categories: Tackle Under 12 and Under 15, Flag Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17 and MiniFlag from 6 years .
