Celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the foundation of the Guardia di Finanza are scheduled for this afternoon, Wednesday 26 June. The ceremony, in the presence of the civil, religious and military authorities of the Pontine province and the Lazio regional commander, division general Virgilio Pomponi, will take place in the area in front of the historic Palazzo M, headquarters of the provincial command.
A ceremony which this year takes on a particular value due to the special anniversary, “which constitutes a significant achievement testifying to the founding values and traditions of the Corps, capable of innovating also through increasingly advanced tools and equipment”. And precisely for this reason, a highly symbolic place was chosen for the event, such as the external public area of the prestigious setting of Palazzo M in the presence of not only the institutions, but also citizens, young people and representatives of the Pontine community who would like to share with the yellow flames this important moment.
At the end of the military ceremony, there will be a short performance by the contralto and mezzo-soprano Serena Veccari, accompanied on the piano by Maestro Antonio Maria Pergolizzi, of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. Finally, a demonstration exercise will be carried out to demonstrate the activity carried out by the military “dog lovers” of the Provincial Command and the sensory capabilities of the drug-detection dogs Jessy and Gingo, dedicated to children, young people, and all guests and citizens who would like to assist. .
