Viterbo – “Viterbo deserves a club that brings the yellow-blue shirt back to the top”. The former national footballer Leonardo Bonucci yesterday afternoon in Viterbo for the inauguration of the Quercia field refurbished by Don Pino. Together with Bonucci at the inauguration, also the minister for sport Andrea Abodi.
In the meantime it has ended the expression of interest announced by the Municipality for the management of the Rocchi stadium and only the offer from Favl Viterbo would have arrived. The yellow-blue club, which had already signed up last week, would then have made its offer conditional on the restoration of the Rocchi turf, the arrangement of the facility and the inclusion of the Vincenzo Rossi al Pilastro pitch in the contract.

During the presentation of the Quercia pitch she said, regarding football in Viterbo, that she would like everything to go back to the way it was before…
“Yes, I would like everything to go back to how it was before, with a team that represents the city and that many kids have the opportunity to wear the yellow and blue shirt and then continue to climb the heights of Italian football as it was for me. Not having a point of reference in Viterbo this becomes more difficult. We know that there are many wonderful companies that operate at an amateur level. And, as has always been the case, Viterbo deserves a club that brings the yellow-blue shirt back to the top.”
What does it mean for a city like Viterbo not to have a functioning stadium?
“The Rocchi stadium is the fundamental element for thinking about playing football and giving the kids the opportunity to aspire to the dream of the yellow-blue shirt and be praised by their fellow citizens. And that’s what I experienced and what I still carry in my heart today. Seeing the full Rocchi in 2021 to thank me and the entire national team for the European Championship that year was fantastic. And this is the football that Viterbo must breathe again.”
What do you hope for Rocchi?
“I hope it will return to being one of the best turfs around Italy”.
