Double intervention between the afternoon and evening of Thursday 6 June for the Palermo station Sicilian Alpine and Speleological Rescue and the IV Flight Department of the State Police, engaged in a first phase for the recovery of a tourist from Lombardy, who was injured on the island of Volcano and subsequently in the area of Zingaro Nature Reserve, for another injury that occurred to a Croatian tourist.
The first intervention ended around 7.30 pm, when, alerted by the 118 Operations Centre, the CNSAS technicians, on board the State Police helicopter, flew to the island from Boccadifalco airport and, identified by the high above the accident area along the sides of the Vulcano crater, they were lowered via winch to the point where the injured tourist was who, due to a disastrous fall while on an excursion, suffered a suspected fracture in her left leg .
Having immobilized the lower limb affected by the trauma, with specific medical aids, the woman was hoisted aboard the helicopter, to be flown to the emergency room of the Milazzo hospital. The Vulcano Carabinieri are present on site.
With a second alert from the 118 Operations Center, the CNSAS technicians, together with the crew of the State Police helicopter, reached the Zingaro Nature Reserve to rescue a 56-year-old Croatian tourist, who also injured a limb lower leg with a suspected fracture of the left ankle, again due to a fall near the Weaving Museum, in the Contrada Sughero area.
After being immobilized and taken aboard the helicopter, the man was flown to the emergency room of the Trapani hospital, while the CNSAS ground rescue team assisted and accompanied the woman who he was with the injured tourist.
