The prefect of Caltanissetta Chiara Armenia approved, last June 3, the new external emergency plan (PEE) for the “Bio Raffineria” and “ECO-Rigen” plants in Gela. The plan, adopted by decree with immediate effect, applies to industrial sites located in the Contrada Piana del Signore.
The PEE has been updated to respond to various needs such as: changes made to the systems; the introduction of a new production scheme adopted by the “Bio Refinery” of Gela; the need to adapt the plan to new regulations and guidelines.
The result of complex and in-depth work lasting more than a year, the document was developed by a dedicated technical table. This group worked intensely to conform planning to the new “Guidelines for the preparation of the external emergency plan, guidelines for informing the population and guidelines for testing external emergency plans”.
In expressing great satisfaction for the important result achieved at the conclusion of a long and delicate work, the Prefect underlined the importance that the PEE in question has in terms of organizing the civil protection response and as an essential tool capable of planning the actions to be implemented in the event of a major accident to control and limit its effects so as to minimize and limit damage to human health, the environment and property.
