Sorrento Peninsula, the appeal of Atex Campania: reduce airport taxes to avoid the collapse of tourism

In a recent statement, Sergio Fedelepresident of Atex Campaniaexpressed the full support of the association to the proposal of the President of Assaeroporti, Carlo Borgomeo, regarding the reduction of airport taxes. “We perfectly agree with President Borgomeo’s proposal,” declared Fedele, underlining the crucial importance of this measure for the future of Campania tourism.

We asked the Mayors of the Municipalities of the Sorrento Peninsula, the Island of Capri and Gragnano to support President Borgomeo’s proposal.
We also asked the regional councilor for Tourism Casucci and the ANCI Campania delegate for Tourism Milan.
It is necessary to do this above all to avoid weighing down our tourism with an unsustainable burden, with the real risk that low-cost airlines decide to abandon our airports.
We must intervene without hesitation.
In Naples the issue is even more serious, due to a further increase in the airport tax, linked to repaying the enormous debt accumulated by the Municipality of Naples.
We cannot slow down the sector that brings economy and employment to the entire city.
Tourism in Campania’s tourist resorts cannot be made to pay for the disaster accumulated by the Municipality of Naples.
Atex Campania was the only association that fought to try to block this increase.
We shared the position taken by President Roberto Barbieri whom we met a few months ago
Now we firmly support President Borgomeo’s proposal and we hope that all the institutional representatives of the Campania tourist areas do so
