On the occasion of Lent 2024, the Caritas of Acireale, we read in a note released today, received from the parish communities a sum of around 4 thousand euros which was donated to the fund to support the “Home and Work” project, for families in difficulty and in particular for those who do not they can afford to pay rent. The parishes, therefore, contributed to a fundraiser to help these families, promoting a more cohesive and inclusive community.
What was collected during the Lenten weeks was delivered to the bishop, Msgr. Antonino Raspanti. “The diocesan Caritas collection for the poor is an important initiative that aims to support those in situations of need in the local community – reports the diocese -. Caritas, with its commitment in the field of social assistance and solidarity, plays a fundamental role in providing practical help and spiritual support to those who live in conditions of economic, social difficulty or other forms of disadvantage”. “The aid collected – declares Don Orazio Tornabene, director of the diocesan Caritas – was distributed in a targeted manner to those who needed it most. The parish communities, in addition to what they do on a daily basis, wanted to offer, through a sign of unity, tangible support and hope for a better future.”
Furthermore, Caritas, through the economic help of private individuals and businesses, has set up the employment fund to encourage entry into the world of work especially for young people and people in unfavorable conditions. Investing in training programs, internships and job placements helps not only reduce unemployment, but also stimulate economic growth and innovation. Participating in these initiatives can be a significant way for communities to walk together, showing the supportive face of the Church of Acireale towards those who are less fortunate, contributing to building a more equal society.
