GALLARATE – The mayor of Gallarate Andrea Cassani has decided to reinstate, for 30 days, the ordinance prohibiting the sale of alcohol in the station area. It applies to anyone who owns or manages commercial or artisanal businesses, such as take-away pizzerias, kebab shops and more, in Piazza Giovanni XXIII, via Cesare Beccaria, via Alberico Albricci, via Luigi Borghi, via Bernardino Ferni, Via Sciarè and the connecting area of via Cavour and Villages.

From 6pm to 6am every day they will not be able to “serve and sell alcoholic beverages of any strength to take away”. However, it will be possible to serve customers sitting at tables until 11pm, if they also consume meals in the meantime. For those who transgress, fines range from 500 euros to 5,000 euros.

A decision… in time

The mayor’s choice is due to the latest news episodes, not least the brawl a few days ago at the Gallarate station. “The episodes of recent weeks – said the mayor – lead me to reinstate this measure to put a stop to certain situations. It is an extraordinary and urgent measure that can last a maximum of 30 days and cannot be immediately replicated.”
