In the Prefecture of Agrigento the water crisis was discussed during a meeting of the Committee for public order and safety. Here is what emerged in more or less concrete terms, excluding the rhetoric: the Prefect recommended that the police forces and mayors monitor water waste. Private wells will soon be voluntarily sold in Agrigento to increase supply. And the Municipality will soon equip itself with tankers with pipes of at least 70 meters to also supply the less accessible homes in the historic center. The “Di Lorenzo” prison will also be supplied with tankers. An agreement will be signed with Enel shortly to exclude the use of the Castello dam for the production of electricity for the entire period of the emergency. And the agricultural area between Bivona, Cianciana and Ribera will benefit from it. If the agreement is not signed soon, the prefect will intervene with substitute powers.
