“The order closing Corso Vittorio Emanuele II to traffic at the weekend is to be considered cancelled. The TAR accepted the traders’ appeal, disavowing the Cannito administration which, as usual, decides in an approximate and arrogant way”. Thus the group leader of the Democratic Party Rosa Cascella and the city councilors Lisia Dipaola, Giuseppe Paolillo, Santa Scommegna, Adelaide and Massimo Spinazzola.
“The TAR ruling – say the Dems – is yet another slap in the face of a failed way of administering. The merchants had repeatedly expressed their desire to discuss with the Mayor, the Vice Mayor Giuseppe Dileo and the entire administration to find solutions more suited to everyone’s needs, without ever denying the usefulness of pedestrian areas. We ourselves as the Democratic Party have shown ourselves close to the requests of residents and traders by presenting various topical questions to the city council in order to start a constructive dialogue. All requests were never accepted, Cannito wanted to flaunt his strength by addressing anyone who asked for explanations in a gruff manner and producing a senseless provision: these, in the end, are the results.”
“The mayor – continue the councilors – should listen to his community instead of submitting to city councilors who blackmail him for a show of hands in the city council, with the one and only aim of keeping the majority standing. This affair represents yet another failure of a deaf and arrogant administration. The “living room” – conclude the Dems – as Cannito defined it, is built with the collaboration of everyone and not with bizarre and wrong actions”.
