On Sunday 9 June, the industrial area of Busto is transformed into a rally track. An ad hoc area, open with lots of greenery, acts as the stage for the 2nd Aics Formula driver – 1st Giancarlo Biasuzzi memorial.
The meeting is at 8.30am, race starts at 9.30am, finals at 2pm. Paddock, i.e. box, on the way Stefano Ferrario. The circuit winds along the streets Massari Marzoli, Macello Candia, Baden Powell to close in via Ferrario.
The initiative, organized by the municipal administration, Aics (Italian sports culture association), Junior Jally Historic and Racing off road, remembers Giancarlo Biasuzzi, mechanic, trainer and driver from Gallarate, a great protagonist in rallying between the Seventies and Eighties, winning the Aci Varese Rally five times.
The sports councilor Maurizio Artusa was first and foremost satisfied with the initiative: «Junior Jally Historic is a historic club in Busto Arsizio, founded in the Sixties. The fact that it is still active today is important, it was a discovery: it costs a lot to maintain a car and keep this passion alive and passed on. Last year the competition was a notable success and the club believed in us, in the sports department: we were happy to support it in this second edition too.”
«I must thank first of all the municipal administration and also the 17 sponsors – stated president Dino Lofano – Costs are always high and we would like to create a show within a show, perhaps increasing with concerts and stalls. Busto Arsizio is a popular circuit: it is open and has a large green area. This year 45-48 cars are expected from Northern Italy.”
Drivers who will keep the name of Busto Arsizio high are Gianluca Accadia and the aforementioned president Lofano. They won’t be missed prototypes of cars. Categories will also be rewarded.
«It is a challenge – he specifies – which takes place in three laps for three heats. The sum of the best times determines the ranking. There are various categories starting from 700 in displacement up to over 2,000. It’s part of a nine-race championship: this is the fourth stage.”
