Almost 3 thousand children from schools in the province of Pavia participated during this school year in lessons on food and the secrets of life in the countryside, taking part in the “EduCA-Friendly Countryside Education” project organized by Coldiretti Pavia. And 500 of these students from the schools of Vigevano and Lomellina gathered this morning in the courtyard of the Vigevano Castle for “Fattorie in Castello 2024”, the closing party of the Coldiretti Pavia school project thanks to which they were able to learn the secrets of countryside directly from agricultural entrepreneurs.
With Silvia Garavaglia (President of Coldiretti Pavia) e Antonio Tessari (Director of the Federation), the Councilor for Family, Social Solidarity, Disability and Equal Opportunities of the Lombardy Region also took part in the event Elena Lucchinithe Mayor of Vigevano Andrea Ceffathe municipal councilor for educational policies Paola Elonora Fantoni and the regional councilors Andrea Sala and Claudio Mangiarotti.
The morning – explains Coldiretti Pavia – took place between agricultural themed games and educational workshops on the products of the land held by Coldiretti farms, with a focus on honey, milk, fruit, eggs, pasta and cheese. Also present at “Fattorie in Castello 2024” was a nutritionist who illustrated the principles of the Mediterranean diet, as well as numerous agritourisms and educational farms of Campagna Amica which organized various activities for all the children of primary and nursery schools in Vigevano and Lomellina .
There were many activities that school children were able to follow under the guidance of their teachers and the agricultural entrepreneurs of Coldiretti Pavia, and all together the students learned the seasons of fruit and vegetables thanks to a large “seasonality wheel” positioned in the courtyard of the Castle of Vigevano. At the end of the event there will also be a local snack for all the children. The organization of the final party of the EduCA Project – Education for the Friendly Campaign of Coldiretti Pavia was organized by Coldiretti Donne Impresa Pavia with the educational farms of Terranostra, present at the Vigevano Castle with the provincial President Christian Romagnese.

Thanks to Coldiretti, food education has become increasingly central in the schools of our area – underlines the President of Coldiretti Pavia – We have been bringing our products and agricultural entrepreneurs into the classrooms for years, teaching children that the basis of good health there is a healthy, balanced diet linked to the territory.”
In fact, almost 3 thousand students from schools in the province of Pavia participated in the Education project for the Friendly Campaign of Coldiretti Pavia during this school year, which involved around ten comprehensive schools and more than 120 classes throughout the province. “We strongly wanted the third edition of this festival because the project on food education has become crucial in past years and because it will remain so in the future in the vision and daily work of Coldiretti Pavia – concludes Silvia Garavaglia – In this way we can convey the extraordinary heritage of our territory and its great biodiversity to the younger ones, through educational workshops on the various agri-food chains”.
