Cycling in Varese has drawn lifeblood from the 2008 world championships, to the point of becoming one of the tourist excellences of our territory.

There Varese Van Vlaanderen is upon us: four routes for cycling enthusiasts in this non-competitive event that will cross our province Sunday 16 June.

An important event, which arises from the collaboration of numerous partners and the support of Varese Chamber of Commerce, the Federation Italian cyclingL’technical organization of SC Orinese and the collaboration ofVarese BikeGuide and Varesedoyoubike Association.

Registrations will be open as early as Saturday 15thfrom 2pm to 6pm at FestiAmo Park Cittiglio, in Piazza Alfredo Binda. From 2pm on the same day it will be possible to visit the exhibition of historical bicycles and jerseys curated by Luca Carraro and Roberto Marengoni, hosted by Alfredo Binda museum.

The departure on Sunday is planned in small groups from 7.30 to 9. Four routes have been designed, two Randonnées (18/105 km) a Gravel (61 km) and one cycle tourism (50km).

The idea of Varese Van Vlaanderen, with its two Randonnée routes is to reproduce the famous one in scale Tour of Flandersa Belgian event, in our territory, for this reason routes were chosen that go along steep cobbled or asphalt climbs.

Alongside the traditional routes there will also be two alternatives: the route gravel (racing bicycles suitable for dirt roads) and that cycle tourism.

There will be no shortage of refreshment points along all the routes and for the first time in Lombardy a restaurant will also be organised refreshment point for celiac athletes. “There is usually a lot of competition between organizations of this type, we want to send a message of collaboration and invite all the other organizers to come with their stand to promote and create synergy”.
