The Court of Assizes of Naples acquitted Adalgisa Gamba, the 42-year-old woman accused of the premeditated murder of her son, who drowned on 2 January 2022 in Torre del Greco, judging her “incapable of understanding and will”.

The child died from drowning in the sea in the Scala area; at the scene, the police who intervened found the mother with the lifeless body of her son in her arms.

“Finally today the truth was ascertained and the judges accepted our requests,” declared the lawyer Salvatore Del Giudice, the woman’s defender.

The lawyer also underlined “the extraordinary work of the experts, both ours and the court’s. Everyone agreed on total mental vice.”

Her husband insulted her in the courtroom by shouting “Murderer”

During the reading of the sentence there were moments of tension in the courtroom, with Adalgisa Gamba’s husband who verbally insulted her, calling her a “murderer”. The situation was calmed by the police present.
