The Region’s priorities for roads and railways.

Sardinia suffers from a very serious infrastructural deficit, with not even a kilometer of motorway and 88% single-track and non-electrified railways. The main arteries are often occupied by endless construction sites and many small centers are difficult to reach. This deficit penalizes the competitiveness of companies, the right of Sardinians to mobility and complicates the lives of tourists, with negative repercussions on the holiday industry. This is what emerged from the “White Paper on Infrastructure Priorities in Sardinia” by Uniontrasportipresented yesterday in Cagliari.

During the conference, the need for a was underlined single governance for the three Sardinian airports to improve their competitiveness. Among the priorities indicated by 369 Sardinian companies are the completion of the Sassari-Olbia, the conclusion of the works on the Nuoro-Olbia-Santa Teresa di Gallurathe modernization of State Road 131, and the connection of Nuoro to the RFI railway network with connections to the airports of Alghero and Olbia.

The data shows a inadequate road and railway system, with road and rail KPIs well below the national average. Sassari is the best positioned city at street level, while Nuoro is in last place for both infrastructures.
