“I am deeply convinced that every young person is like a lamp rich in oil that is only waiting for the fire to light up. And the constitutional school, the school of talents, must be the fire”. Giuseppe Valditara, current Minister of Education and Merit, presents his book “The school of talents” (Piemme) today at 5pm in Cuneo at the Ippogrifo Bookstore in Corso Nizza 1. In this book, Valditara reflects on the role of school in contemporary society and on the fundamental objectives that an educational institution should pursue, looking to the future with awareness of our historical and cultural roots.
The school must be able to put the student, his inclinations and passions at the centre, so that he can grow as an individual within the community. At the same time, it must reaffirm the teacher’s authority and her pedagogical role. Through a careful analysis of the available data, the minister examines the virtues of the Italian school system, as well as the numerous critical issues, including the problems linked to school dropout and the decline in the social and economic prestige of the teaching body, highlighting the reforms implemented and those future.
